Marriage License Information   -Top -
 To apply for a marriage license both parties need to be present at the Court Clerk’s Office between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. You may contact us at 918-337-2870.

The following information is a summary of marriage license requirements under Oklahoma law. Please refer to statutes  for more detailed information.
Proof of Age and Identity: Acceptable forms of identification include current state-issued driver's license, birth certificate with raised seal, current passport, etc. Persons age 18 and older are considered adults for purposes of marriage. Age 16-17: Consent of parent or guardian, as applicable. Age 15 and younger: Marriage is prohibited in this state except by court order.
Divorce: Persons divorced in Oklahoma may not marry anyone in this state other than their previous spouse for a period of six (6) months from the date of the decree of dissolution of marriage.
Residency Requirements: There are no residency requirements, but the marriage must be performed in Oklahoma.
Waiting Period: No waiting period required except for those under the age of 18. If under age 18, there is a 72 hour waiting period unless there is a waiver signed by a judge, parent, or guardian.
Statutory Fees: Fees are $50.00 payable in cash at the office of the Court Clerk. However, the fee is reduced to $5.00 if the applicants present a certificate issued by a health professional or an official representative of a religious institution, demonstrating that the applicants have completed at least 4 hours of pre-marital counseling.
 
 
Jail Bond Information   -Top -
Posting of bonds may be done at the Court Clerk's office between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. After hours, bonds can be posted at the Washington County Detention Center.

Homestead Exemption Information   -Top -
To Qualify: You must be the homeowner of record who resides on the property by January 1. The property deed must be notarized on or before January 1 and filed with the County Clerk's Office on or before February 1. You must be a resident of Oklahoma.
To Apply: Homestead Exemption applications are accepted at any time throughout the year. However, the application must be filed by March 15 to be approved for the current year. Any application filed after March 15 can not be approved until the following year.
In Person: You may apply for Homestead Exemption at the Washington County Assessor's Office between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. M-F.
By Mail: ???
Renewal: If you have been granted a Homestead Exemption and continue to occupy the homestead property, you are not required to re-apply for homestead exemption.; However, if you change your deed, or move, you will need to re-file.

Jury Duty Information   -Top -
Jurors need to sign in at the Court Clerk's office. Parking permits will be provided for free parking on any street EXCEPT Johnstone. Jurors recieve $20 per day for each day of attendance.

Passport Information   -Top -
Passport applications are taken at the Court Clerk's office. For more information call (918) 337-2870.

Passport Application by Mail (Renewals Only):
You may make application by mail if you meet the following four (4) requirements. Applicants who do not qualify for renewal passports must apply in person.  
1. You can submit your most recent passport AND  
2. You were at least 16 years old when your most recent passport was issued AND   3. You were issued your most recent passport in the last 15 years AND  
4. You use the same name as on your most recent passport or since your passport was issued, you have had your named changed by marriage or court order and can submit proper documentation to reflect your name-change. Please use form DS-82. Forms may be obtained at www.travel.state.gov .
Applying for a Passport in Person: Please have the following items with you when you come to Court Clerk’s office to apply for your passport. 
1. Completed application (type or print using black ink only), MUST be signed in the presence of a clerk. Please use form DS-11. Forms may be obtained at www.travel.state.gov
2. All applicants age 16 and over, must sign their own application in the presence of a clerk. Both parents or guardians must appear and sign for children under age 16. Applicants MUST have a certified copy of their birth certificate issued by the city, county or state department of health from the state where they were born. The certified copy must bear the impression of the seal of the issuing entity, (city, county, or state) or naturalized citizens must bring their naturalization certificate.  
3. Two (2) identical passport color photographs (2 inches by 2 inches). We request you have your photographs taken by a commercial studio where all requirements are known. Background MUST be plain white or off white.  
4. Valid driver’s license or government identification, or have someone accompany you who has known you two years or longer who has a valid driver’s license or government identification, to prove your identity. Persons under the age of 18 MUST appear in person with a parent or have a statement from the parent giving them permission to obtain a passport.  
Fees are as follows:  
ADULTS – 16 years of age and over – passport valid 10 years, $75.00 check or money order (NOT CASH) made payable to U.S. DEPARTMENT OF STATE for the passport fee. The execution fee of $25.00 MUST be paid by separate check or money order (NOT CASH) made payable to the COURT CLERK.  
CHILDREN – under 16 years of age – passport valid 5 years, $60.00 check or money order (NOT CASH) made payable to U.S. DEPARTMENT OF STATE for the passport fee. The execution fee of $25.00 MUST be paid by separate check or money order (NOT CASH) made payable to the COURT CLERK.
Processing Time: Completed applications are sent by the office of the Court Clerk to the nearest passport processing agency. This process requires approximately six (6) weeks. Processing time may be longer between March and August. For faster processing, you may request Expedited Service. Expedited requests will be processed in two (2) weeks. The additional fee for Expedited Service is $60.00 plus 2-way overnight delivery.
